Staying H.I.R.E.d is a practical guide to workplace culture written by 72 Smalldive founder who draws on two decades of experience advising Fortune 500 companies across Europe and Asia.
The book's central argument is a direct challenge to one of corporate culture's most entrenched assumptions: that career success depends on "fitting in." Soh contends that this directive is not only vague and subjective but actively harmful, encouraging conformity at the expense of creativity, diversity, and genuine organisational health.
In its place, he proposes a paradigm shift toward fostering transformative figures at work who play a purposeful role — the cultural kingmaker, one who shapes and sustains a thriving workplace, effectively building a work oasis that nurtures a culture of growth, empowerment, and collaboration.
A Practical Guide
Not Just Theory
Staying H.I.R.E.d provides actionable, real-world practices that anyone can integrate immediately to become a cultural kingmaker at work. Filled with real stories, the book will guide readers in establishing values that help promote a collaborative culture at work.
From The Author
Why I Wrote Staying H.I.R.E.d
For years, consulting for global firms and running 72 Smalldive, I witnessed a consistent workplace behaviour in which competent individuals were hesitant to take initiatives. Their lack of agency was often a symptom of a stagnant or toxic workplace.
But I also witnessed companies that, by upholding human-centric values, successfully empower employees who, in turn, construct thriving work cultures.
I wrote Staying H.I.R.E.d to share how one can be an agent of positive change at work, transforming their workplace into an oasis where individuals flourish and teams excel.
